Best Double Stroller For Travel: Top Rated Models for Families on the Move
After the birth of my daughter 7 months ago, I began looking for a good double stroller that I could easily pack up and take with me. My son is 3 so my two children have different needs, an important consideration when searching for the best double stroller for travel. I definitely wanted something that was lightweight and compact when not in use but also comfortable for my children and easy to maneuver.
After careful consideration, I narrowed down my list of the best double travel stroller models to the ones that offered the most convenience, best features, and were lightweight and portable enough that I could handle them on my own.
Below is my list of the top 5 best double stroller for travel models available on the market today:
I can see why the Delta LX Side by Side was a top rated double stroller for travel by many parents as the two canopies were very large and easy to adjust but the stroller itself was built to easily go in and out of normal-sized doorways. The stroller weighs 21 pounds and can fold down quite flat, making it perfect for when you’re on the road with two kids.
Another fine example of the side-by-side modes, the Kolcraft Cloud comes in a number of nice color combinations. I really like how the kids are strapped down with a 3-point safety harness. Beyond the generous canopies for each kid, the stroller also includes a mesh screen that you can use to protect the kids from dust, insects or other disturbances.
Definitely one of the best double stroller for travel models that I reviewed, the Kolcraft Cloud weighs under 11 pounds and yet can handle up to 35 pounds of combined weight.
Available in classic black, the Delta Children City Street keeps both kids safe with a secure 3-point harness. Even though both kids ride side by side, the stroller fits through most normal doorways and the front six wheels all swivel nicely for easy maneuvering in tight spaces.
I saw the Delta Children City Street on many top rated double stroller for travel lists, and I can see why. The large storage bags, cupholder for the parent/pusher and really durable fabric gives the kids a great ride for when we’re on the road.
If your kids are getting bigger, the Graco DuoGlider Folding is definitely one of the best travel double stroller models that I reviewed. Able to handle up two children weighing 40 pounds apiece, the Graco DuoGlider is still surprisingly light and easy to maneuver. The model I reviewed came with two infant car seats, a really nice complete package for traveling with young children.
There is an absolutely huge storage basket underneath and yet the Graco DuoGlider folds up nice and easy into a very compact bundle that I can take with me when I’m traveling with the kids.
The Chicco Cortina Together is a superb stroller for parents with two kids. Both of the seats can either take an infant car seat or be used for bigger kids. Rated to handle two kids weighing up to 40 pounds apiece, the Chicco Cortina Together was the only one kid behind the other stroller that made my list.
The best part about the stroller is that it can be folded in a second by pulling on a strap. And then there’s a latch that you secure to keep the stroller in place, an outstanding benefit for when you’re traveling and space is limited. Although it’s a bit heavier than other models at 35 pounds, this is definitely a quality stroller.
In summary, it wasn’t easy for me to select my top rated double stroller for travel models to include in this review. Many double strollers fold down really nicely but aren’t built from quality materials and feel flimsy. All of the models that I included could easily accommodate my two children, each with their own canopy. Other nice features for a good travel stroller for two children include generous storage areas, cup holders, a simple method of folding up the stroller, and of course having everything be lightweight enough that a petite woman like me can easily pick it up and pack it in the car.
It’s definitely worthwhile to take your time and investigate which travel stroller you choose if you have two kids. Beyond weight, the child’s comfort, and security, make sure you focus on the total size the stroller takes up when it’s folded and whether the stroller can handle a car seat.
