How To Stay Healthy Without Risking Your Health

By Blogtrepreneur

Often, in pursuit of wealth and success, we become overextended entrepreneurs and work long hours, don’t move enough, accumulate too much stress, and then have a health crisis serve as a wake-up call. Sometimes, too, we neglect our health because of a hectic, stressful, or self-indulgent lifestyle.

Staying healthy appears to be simple as drinking enough water, eating foods without additives or preservatives, doing enough exercise, and getting enough sleep. However, in the pursuit of better health, it’s quite easy to become overzealous.

Naturally, we are not even aware that we are being overzealous. We think we’re doing the best thing possible–without realizing that our attempts to improve wellbeing can do more harm than good.

Often the choices we make appear to be rational and beneficial—however, they have unintended side effects that can ruin our health.

3 Unhealthy Things to Stop Doing

Let’s take a look at 3 apparently healthy things people often do that turn out not to be as healthy as they first thought.

1. Removing rodents and bugs.

There is no doubt that rodents and bugs can spread disease so it makes perfect sense to eliminate them from our homes. However, many chemicals used for pest control can expose us to toxic chemicals if they are not properly applied. When it comes to home pest control, it’s beneficial to use a professional company like Moxie Pest Control that knows exactly how to get rid of pests without affecting the health of families and their pets.

2. The use of disinfecting products.

Another mistake when it comes to improving the environment of our homes is the use of disinfecting products. While these products claim to have chemicals that provide disinfecting properties that remove bacteria and germs, they have not been proved to be more effective than regular natural cleaning products. Worse still, they have side-effects that could be worse than the germs you’re trying to sanitize. Quaternary ammonium products can exacerbate asthma and 2-butoxyethanol have been linked to causing cancer. Unfortunately, you can’t get a good idea of what chemicals might be in a cleaning product, because cleaning product manufacturers aren’t required to list everything on the product label. You can still have a sanitary home by using products made by a reputable eco-friendly company or by using water, vinegar, and baking soda. Vinegar and baking soda are natural products with antibacterial properties. The trick to good sanitation is regular cleaning and deep scrubbing, rather than using the strongest chemical you can find on the grocery shelves.

3. Brushing your teeth after every meal.

It might seem a great idea to brush your teeth after every meal because you won’t give food stuck between your teeth time a chance to accumulate. However, food can leave an acid residue on enamel, making it more brittle. So when you brush your teeth soon after you’ve eaten, you’re also brushing away some of the enamel that has been softened by the acid. After a meal, it’s better just to rinse out your mouth to remove food particles. Just brush your teeth when you wake up and when you go to bed. While brushing, do so in a circular motion because this pushes bacteria back into the gums. Also, don’t brush too vigorously, as this can cause receding gums.

Health is Everything

Without good health, life can be difficult to enjoy to the fullest. Unfortunately, we often take it for granted until we experience a health crisis. While it’s great to have a renewed interest in improving your health, you should avoid accidentally doing things that might actually damage it.
