Top Rated Travel Systems: Which Models Lead the Pack
At age 34, I had to make the difficult decision of whether to stay at my career in marketing or whether to dedicate myself full-time to being a stay-at-home mom. After the birth of my daughter six months ago, I chose the latter. Now with a 4-year-old son and infant daughter on my hands, I knew it was time to look at all of the top rated travel system strollers to find one that would best suit my needs.
All of the car seat stroller combo reviews that I read really encouraged me as I was glad to see that I could now safely transport my daughter in her car seat and then switch her right over to the stroller once we got to our destination. The articles that I read put an emphasis on convenience, which as a mother of two, really appealed to me.
Below are the 5 top rated travel systems that I could find:
Available in a number of really nice gender-neutral color designs, the Evenflo Journey Lite Travel System includes a really nice lightweight stroller that needs no adjusting or manipulation. When it comes time to use it, just lift it out of the trunk and it unfolds itself. And when it’s time to pack the stroller away, it folds up with just a single tug that you can do one-handed.
There’s a handy tray for my daughter as well as a “console” for me. There’s enough storage underneath for her diaper bag and a few other supplies and the stroller is easy to push and use. The included car seat can handle preemies as small as 4 pounds with a very advanced harness to keep your child safe while in the car. The complete set weighs just 36 pounds and I can see why so many of the car seat stroller combo reviews that I read were raving about the Evenflo.
A very comprehensive two-for, the Britax B-agile 3/B-Safe 35 Travel System includes an infant car seat and stroller in matching primary colors. The stroller can be folded up and packed away with just one hand, which is nice when transferring my daughter from the car to the stroller.
The included car seat was raved about in the Britax reviews that I read, and I can understand why after reading about all the safety features, including the stabilizing steel frame and cushioning to protect against a side impact collision. The Britax reviews also mentioned how easy it was to use the car seat in a new vehicle, as all you have to do is connect two latches and pull on a strap to get the seat securely in place.
Perfect for moms on the go, the Baby Trend Expedition Jogger Travel System WITH Baby Trend Easy Flex Infant Car Seat features a stroller with big 16-inch rear wheels and a single 12-inch bicycle tire front wheel that can easily handle bumpy and uneven terrain. The stroller is astonishingly lightweight and easy to maneuver or get in/out of the car.
The included infant car seat has a special cushion that protects your little one’s head and is very well made. The other reviews that I read mentioned the bright colors, and it’s true that the car seat/stroller combo come in a wide range of stylish designs, many of which are gender neutral and perfect for an expecting first-time mom or baby shower present. The rugged bicycle tire and suspension system make this jogging stroller qualify for one of the top rated travel systems in my book.
Less brightly colored than some of the other models I reviewed, the Graco Soho Travel System SnugRide Click Connect 30 is a very nice pairing. The highly-rated car seat can be reclined to a number of different positions, perfect for when my daughter is sleeping or awake and wanting to see what’s going on. The “quad” wheel design of the stroller includes a lock for the front wheels for when you need greater maneuverability and the suspension is top-notch, smoothing out the little bumps and jolts with ease.
Graco’s “Click Connect” system means that all you have to do is transfer the car seat to the stroller with just one easy move. Able to handle little ones from 4 pounds all the way up to 35 pounds, the Graco Soho Travel System SnugRide Click Connect 30 definitely earns its position as one of the best options available on the market today.
From one of the most famous name in baby gear, the Chicco – Bravo Stroller Trio System bills itself as a 3-in-1 system. Starting with a very secure infant car seat that has its own adjustably canopy, your child can easily be put in the stroller with a single click for an effortless transfer. When your baby gets big enough to ride without the car seat, the same one-click system allows you to buckle them in with equal ease.
There’s also a really handy tray with two cupholders and plenty of storage space underneath. With a stable four-wheel “quad” design on the stroller and everything you’d want in an infant car seat, I can see why the Chicco Bravo is regularly voted as one of the top rated travel system strollers you can buy.
With two kids, I’m a little more familiar with what I want in a good travel system. But it was nice reading the travel system reviews from first-time parents and other moms because it’s the little things that count when it comes to a stroller/car seat combo set. Gender neutral color designs are great when buying one for an expectant first-time mom or for growing families like mine with siblings of both genders. Instead of buying an advanced, super-safe infant car seat separately, travel systems are great because they allow you to transfer your little one directly to the stroller with one motion. None of the systems I reviewed weighed over 40 pounds, making it really easy for a single parent to fold/unfold and use them, a nice touch that I definitely appreciated, if weight is a big factor for you then you might want to check out my review of the best lightweight travel systems which is focused on just those systems at the lowest end of the weight spectrum.
